Group Therapy
I have been running groups for over 30 years and am recognized as a Certified Group Psychotherapist by the American Group Psychotherapy Association.
My approach to group therapy is based on the interpersonal theory of Dr. Irvin Yalom. The group provides a unique opportunity to work on interpersonal skills and intimacy, experiment with new behaviour, experience challenges, and share successes in a safe environment. Group members transfer the skills they learn in the group to their outside relationships.
The group helps you:
- learn about yourself and your impact on others
- learn new interpersonal skills and receive feedback
- observe and practice assertiveness
- identify and express emotions
In addition to working on interpersonal skills and intimacy, the group can help people struggling with:
- anxiety and depression
- family and work issues
- self-esteem and assertiveness
Groups are 90 minutes long and are held weekly. These are open-ended groups and new members are added when there are openings. The size of the groups are limited to 8 members.
Before joining a group, an initial screening interview is conducted to see if the group is right for you. There is no charge for this interview.
